RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a great way to see the news and information that you want to see from the web.
Instead of going and finding new content from your favourite websites, RSS allows that information to come to you! Awesome.
To subscribe to an RSS feed, there is usually a button on a webpage that looks like this 
If you click on this button, it will usually take you to a page that gives you options on how to subscribe. An easy way to view subscriptions is to use google reader. Which will let you use your google account to view RSS feeds.
You can then simply click on the button to subscribe to the feed, and if there is no button, you can copy the URL and paste it into the “add a subscription” box.
This is a really simple process, and it will allow all of your favourite news and information to come to you!

I understand what you’re saying about how most people don’t understand RSS, but I find that it’s more of a hassle to use than actually going to the sites and blogs manually. I like knowing when something is updated, but I enjoy seeing the content in full glory, and I start to feel… strangled when the unread posts number continues to grow. It’s a great idea, but I find it isn’t all it could be at this point. Call me crazy, but instead of everything coming to me I like to go to it.

rss syndication can be used for seo purposes to ramp up keyword content. may want to randomize the rss to make original content thumbprints though.

@nathandyer I think that the sites still are the main information setting. One of my mates compared it to a full novel and readers digest excerpt. But, if your trying to find new content from 30-40 sites, then RSS allows you to see what is new in a flash, and then view the sites that you like. So instead of visiting 40 sites daily, you can just visit the ones that get updated.
